Will installing JetDrive void Apple's warranty?

Category : Setup / Operation

Know your rights protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. You are free to purchase Transcend's compatible memory modules or SSD products to upgrade your original system without voiding its warranty.

In the United States, section 102(c) of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 (15 United States Code section 2302(c)) prohibits companies from including a "tie-in sales" provision in their written or implied warranty, which requires their customers to buy an item or service from a particular company to use with the warranted product in order to be eligible to receive a remedy under the warranty. Such a provision not only usually violates the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, but also violates antitrust law (Sherman Act) because it would restrain market competition.

However, the Magnuson-Moss Act allows a warranty to be voided if the use of replacement parts, repairs, or maintenance that is inappropriate for your original system. Should you properly install Transcend's compatible memory or storage products by following Transcend's User Manual or upgrade videos, nothing being performed should void the warranty on your original system.
